Nghệ An to establish Trần Quốc Hoàn public school in Vinh
The Nghệ An Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision to establish the Trần Quốc Hoàn Primary, Middle, and High School in Vinh. Scheduled to begin operations in the 2026-2027 academic year, the new public institution will be named after Trần Quốc Hoàn, Vietnam's first Minister of Public Security.
The school will be formed by transitioning the existing private Hermann Gmeiner Vinh School into a public entity. This transition follows a government directive to reorganize the SOS Children's Villages Vietnam system. The Hermann Gmeiner school, which has operated since 1994, currently serves over 1,600 students and employs nearly 70 staff members.
By providing public education across three levels, including high school, the new establishment aims to reduce admission pressure for grade 10 enrollment in the Vinh area and expand public education opportunities. The Nghệ An Department of Education and Training will oversee the transition, including organizational restructuring and recruitment.
