Nghỉ hè sợ nghỉ hưu dominates Vietnamese box office
The Vietnamese film ‘Nghỉ hè sợ nghỉ hưu’, directed by Huỳnh Lập, is currently dominating the local box office. According to Box Office Vietnam, the film has earned nearly 96 billion VND after nine days of release, including its early screening period.
To capitalize on the upcoming September 2 National Day holiday, the production team implemented a strategic release schedule, moving the film to theaters as early as August 14, ahead of its official August 21 release date. This extended sneak show approach aims to build word-of-mouth momentum. The film maintains a strong presence with approximately 3,500 daily screenings, outperforming competitors in the current market.
Unlike typical horror films, Huỳnh Lập has opted not to rely on jump scares or traditional supernatural tropes. Instead, the film utilizes spiritual elements as a narrative bridge to explore character history and personal growth.
