Nghỉ hè sợ nghỉ hưu surpasses 100 billion VND at the box office

The Vietnamese film ‘Nghỉ hè sợ nghỉ hưu’, directed by Huỳnh Lập, has surpassed 100 billion VND in revenue, becoming the tenth Vietnamese film to join the ‘hundred billion club’ in 2026.

According to Box Office Vietnam data, the film reached approximately 102 billion VND by the evening of August 24. The production utilized an early release strategy, beginning with early screenings on August 14 before its official release on August 21. This approach allowed the film to accumulate revenue and secure a dominant position at the box office.

The story explores the relationship between a Gen Z youth, Trí Bình (played by Cody Nam Võ), and his grandfather, a reserved veteran named Thời (played by Cao Minh). While the film incorporates spiritual elements and addresses themes of war memories and generational gaps, it focuses on how these historical contexts impact lives in a time of peace.
