Nghe An authorities increase inspections of An cung medicine
The Nghe An Department of Health has issued an official directive to increase inspections and supervision of the circulation, business, and use of An cung nguu hoang hoan traditional medicine. This move follows warnings regarding counterfeit versions of the drug and exaggerated advertisements claiming it is a ‘miracle drug’ for preventing or treating strokes.
Deputy Director of the Nghe An Department of Health, Nguyen Van Thuong, stated that the measures aim to detect and handle the sale of drugs with unknown origins, counterfeit products, and false advertising that misleads consumers. Authorities are particularly concerned about social media platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok, where products are often promoted with inflated medical claims.
Local authorities and medical facilities have been instructed to monitor compliance with laws regarding traditional medicine business. The directive emphasizes the risks associated with individuals self-medicating without a doctor's prescription and follows recent large-scale crackdowns on counterfeit medicine production rings in neighboring Thanh Hoa province.
