Nghe An residents restore historic Ho Chi Minh inscription on Ngon Mountain

More than 1,200 officials, armed forces, and local residents in Lam Thanh Commune, Nghe An Province, have collaborated to restore the historical inscription ‘Ho Chi Minh lives forever’ on Ngon Mountain.

Originally created in December 1969 following the death of President Ho Chi Minh, the inscription was initially formed using simple tools and lime. Over the past 57 years, harsh weather and steep terrain have caused the letters to fade. To ensure long-term preservation, local authorities have transitioned from traditional materials to a more durable concrete method.

Using socialized funding, the project involves more than 1,500 numbered concrete slabs, each weighing over 20kg and measuring approximately 80cm by 20cm. Due to the steep and difficult terrain, workers must manually pass the heavy slabs up the mountain to assemble the letters, which stand approximately 45 meters high. The first phase of casting and installing these slabs is now complete.
