Nghe An school merger sparks controversy over principal appointment

The Huu Khuong Commune People's Committee in Nghe An province has sparked local controversy following the appointment of a new principal after merging two schools. The merger combined the local primary school and lower secondary school into the Huu Khuong Semi-Boarding Primary and Lower Secondary School.

According to local officials, Le Tuyen Huan, the former principal of the primary school, was appointed as the principal of the newly merged institution. Nguyen Viet Thong, the former principal of the lower secondary school, was assigned the role of vice principal.

This decision appears to contradict specific guidelines issued by the Nghe An Department of Education and Training. Previous official documents, including Dispatch No. 2986/SGD&ĐT-TCCB and a subsequent dispatch on September 2, emphasized that when merging schools into a dual-level institution, priority for the principal position should be given to the former lower secondary school principal.
