Ho Chi Minh City charity event raises billions for COVID-19 orphans

The charity program ‘Nghĩa tình Phương Nam - Cùng con đi tiếp cuộc đời’ was held on September 16 in Ho Chi Minh City to mark five years of supporting orphans lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organized by VTV Nam Bộ and Thanh Niên Newspaper, the event took place at the COVID-19 Victim Memorial Park, featuring musical performances and a candle-lighting ceremony to honor those lost during the pandemic.

During the event, various donors and organizations contributed significant funds to support the children. Vietcombank donated 500 million VND, while businessman Johnathan Hạnh Nguyễn contributed 10 billion VND. Total donations announced reached approximately 18.1 to 18.6 billion VND for the Vietnam Television Heart Fund (Quỹ Tấm lòng Việt).

Since its inception in 2021, the ‘Cùng con đi tiếp cuộc đời’ initiative has provided emergency assistance and long-term sponsorship for over 2,200 orphans in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces, with total funding exceeding 60.8 billion VND to assist with education and living expenses through age 18.
