Ngizwe Mchunu vows to continue anti‑illegal immigration protests after March and March split

Media personality and activist Ngizwe Mchunu said he will keep fighting illegal immigration despite the lobby group March and March ending their partnership with him. The group cited alleged unacceptable behaviour and an internal probe that found attempts by political and business actors to infiltrate the movement.

Mchunu rebuked March and March leaders Jacinta Ngobese‑Zuma and Nkosikhona Phakelumthakathi Ndabandaba, calling them junior and inexperienced. He stressed that while protests cannot march forever, the anti‑immigration drive will go on.

Thousands of demonstrators marched on 30 June demanding the removal of undocumented foreign nationals. The South African Inter‑Ministerial Committee on Migration reported that the Border Management Authority repatriated about 73,000 undocumented migrants between 7 June and 14 July, one of the country’s largest recent deportation campaigns. President Cyril Ramaphosa met with Mchunu earlier, urging that demonstrations remain peaceful.
