Ngonia del Tono rockfall safety project begins construction

Construction has officially commenced for the safety reinforcement of the Ngonia del Tono rocky ridge. Following a technical inspection led by project director Fabio Marino, local officials including Mayor Pippo Midili and Public Works Assessor Santi Romagnolo identified the initial areas available for work.

The project, awarded to Consorzio Stabile ITM of Forlì, is funded with approximately 7.5 million euros. It aims to stabilize a steep and irregular slope prone to landslides and rockfalls that pose risks to public and private safety. The works include the consolidation of the ridge overlooking Ngonia del Tono and areas beneath via Manica, as well as rainwater management for via Manica, via delle Magnolie, and the staircase leading to the Ngonia.

While the project was awarded in April 2024 following a tender process started in June 2023, the current handover of the site is partial. Certain areas remain excluded due to pending expropriation procedures or other logistical impediments.
