Ngulkham Jathom Gangte Named India's Ambassador to Mexico

The Ministry of External Affairs announced that senior diplomat Ngulkham Jathom Gangte, a 1994‑batch Indian Foreign Service officer, has been appointed as India's next ambassador to Mexico. Gangte, currently serving as Special Secretary in the MEA, will take up the posting in the coming weeks.

His previous postings include serving as India's ambassador to Tunisia from 2021 with concurrent accreditation to Libya, and as High Commissioner to Zambia between 2017 and 2021. Earlier in his career he held assignments in Indian missions in Egypt, Morocco, Ireland and Tanzania, and senior roles at MEA headquarters as Deputy Secretary, Director and Joint Secretary. He is an alumnus of Delhi University’s Hansraj College, holding a degree in chemistry. The appointment is part of India's effort to expand its strategic, trade and diplomatic presence in Latin America.
