Nguyen Duc Canh returns to dating show after viral meal-splitting controversy

Nguyen Duc Canh, a man from Thach That, Hanoi, has resurfaced on the dating show ‘Ban Muon Hen Ho’ eight years after becoming a viral social media figure for his controversial views on splitting meal costs.

During his original appearance, Canh sparked intense debate by suggesting that if a date ate two bowls of pho while he ate one, he should not be responsible for the entire bill. He argued that since his date was working, she should contribute to the cost of the extra portion. This stance led to significant public criticism at the time.

Now 34 years old, Canh shared that the incident has remained a defining part of his life, noting that many women he has attempted to date in the intervening years have questioned him about the ‘three bowls of pho’ story. He currently works in real estate and operates a pub.
