Nguyen Huu Phuc sentenced to death for neighbor's murder and robbery

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Court has sentenced Nguyen Huu Phuc, 60, to death for murder and robbery. Phuc killed his neighbor, a woman referred to as Ms. Q, in Vinh Loc commune after deciding to steal her gold jewelry.

According to the court, the incident occurred when Ms. Q approached Phuc to borrow a bamboo pole to drive away a snake. Noticing her gold earrings and bracelet, Phuc attacked her with a hammer and the bamboo pole in an empty lot behind the house. After the killing, he stole the jewelry and attempted to conceal the body with a blue tarp.

Phuc's wife, Trinh Thi Duc, was sentenced to one year in prison for receiving stolen property. Phuc had informed his wife of the crime while they were traveling together to sell the stolen gold, which they managed to exchange for nearly 40 million VND.
