Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao loses position as Vietnam's second richest person

Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Vietjet Air and Sovico Group, is no longer the second richest person in Vietnam according to real-time Forbes billionaire rankings. Her net worth has decreased to $4.1 billion, largely due to fluctuations in Vietjet Air (VJC) and HDBank (HDB) stock prices.

Pham Thu Huong, Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup, has overtaken Thao to become the second wealthiest individual in the country. Huong's wealth is primarily driven by her significant holdings in Vingroup (VIC) and LPBank (LPB) shares.

Separately, Vietjet Air was recently recognized by the aviation research organization CAPA as the Asia Low Cost/Hybrid Airline of the Year at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit Asia 2026 in Japan.
