Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao's wealth increases to $4.2 billion

Billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Vietjet Air and Sovico Group, saw her wealth increase by nearly $57 million in a single day, bringing her total assets to $4.2 billion according to Forbes. Despite this gain, she is no longer the second richest person in Vietnam; that position is now held by Pham Thu Huong, Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup.

Thao's wealth is primarily tied to her holdings in Vietjet Air and HDBank. She directly holds 213.9 million HDB shares and 61.7 million VJC shares, with additional indirect ownership through related entities such as Sovico and Huong Duong Sunny Investment Co., Ltd.

In related business developments, Vietjet recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Satair, an Airbus subsidiary, to develop aviation supply chains in Vietnam. Additionally, Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, expanded its technical support and maintenance contract with Vietjet to include 44 Airbus A320neo aircraft.
