The Hanoi People's Court has commenced the trial of 28 defendants in a major corruption case involving the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and Hoang Long Human Resource Supply Joint Stock Company. The proceedings focus on charges of receiving bribes, mediating bribery, and violating accounting regulations.

Former Deputy Minister Nguyễn Bá Hoan is accused of receiving over 16 billion VND. Prosecutors allege that between 2017 and 2025, Hoan and former Director of the Department of Overseas Labour Tống Hải Nam directed subordinates to intentionally delay the appraisal of dossiers for companies seeking licenses to send Vietnamese workers abroad. This created obstacles that forced businesses to pay bribes totaling more than 30 billion VND.

Among the defendants are several former high-ranking officials from the Ministry and various business leaders. Nghiêm Quốc Hưng, Chairman of Hoang Long Company, is facing charges related to accounting violations. Additionally, Nguyễn Lâm Sơn, Director of Thanh Do Law Firm, is being tried for mediating bribery. The trial is expected to involve over 50 legal professionals and dozens of individuals with related interests.
