Hanoi Medical University holds Match Day 2026 residency selection

Hanoi Medical University recently held Match Day 2026, where approximately 780 candidates competed for 444 medical residency positions. The event highlighted diverse career paths and individual student stories.

Top performers made significant choices, including valedictorian Nguyễn Đức Anh Quân, who selected Obstetrics and Gynecology, a field chosen by the top three consecutive valedictorians. Other notable participants included Vũ Quang Huy, who chose Oncology despite initial family concerns, and Ngô Văn Hiếu, known for his decade-long commitment to supporting a disabled friend, who selected Diagnostic Imaging.

Some students opted for less conventional specialties, such as Forensic Medicine, despite social stigmas regarding the difficulty and legal nature of the work. Faculty members emphasized that while residency is a prestigious path, it is not the only way for doctors to achieve professional success, encouraging those who did not secure their first choice to pursue alternative training and clinical experience.
