Nguyễn Văn Chung announces copyright waiver for select songs
Vietnamese songwriter Nguyễn Văn Chung has announced that he will waive copyright fees and allow the free use of certain songs without prior permission. A prominent figure in contemporary Vietnamese music for over two decades, Chung is known for hits such as ‘Vầng Trăng Khóc’ and ‘Chiếc Khăn Gió Ấm’.
He holds a Vietnam Record for being the youngest songwriter to compose the most children's songs, with over 300 tracks including ‘Nhật Ký Của Mẹ’. His recent work, ‘Viết Tiếp Câu Chuyện Hoà Bình’, has achieved significant digital reach, garnering over 10 billion views and impressions across various platforms and community settings.
In a recent social media post, Chung expressed appreciation for the increasing awareness of copyright laws among the public, including students. He noted a rise in requests for permission to use his music, which he views as a positive sign for the development of the industry.
