Nguyễn Xuân Son signs contract extension with Thép Xanh Nam Định

Nguyễn Xuân Son, a Brazilian-born striker who has obtained Vietnamese citizenship, has signed a contract extension with Thép Xanh Nam Định through 2031. This six-year deal is among the longest in V. League history.

While the specific financial terms of the contract have not been officially disclosed by the club, media estimates suggest his monthly salary could reach approximately 25,000 USD (nearly 650 million VND). This would result in annual earnings exceeding 7 billion VND, totaling over 42 billion VND over the six-year term.

Son's market value was previously highlighted following the 2023/24 season, when he scored 31 goals to help Nam Định win the V. League title. At that time, a club from Saudi Arabia reportedly offered over 3 million USD to recruit him, an offer that was declined by Nam Định.
