NGX and Nairobi Stock Exchange Commit to Deeper African Market Integration
The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) and the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) met in Nairobi, where NGX Group Chairman Umaru Kwairanga and NSE Chairman Kiprono Kittony agreed to accelerate cooperation under the African Exchanges Linkage Project and the African Continental Free Trade Area. They outlined joint initiatives, including cross‑border listings, new ETFs and derivatives, shared technology and cybersecurity infrastructure, ESG frameworks, and investor‑education programs aimed at expanding liquidity and attracting global capital.
Kwairanga highlighted Nigeria’s strong market performance and the upcoming Dangote Refinery IPO as a continental investment opportunity, and welcomed FTSE Russell’s decision to reclassify Nigeria as a frontier market from September 2026. Both exchanges pledged to establish working teams to implement the collaboration.
