NH 66 infrastructure: New foot overbridges approved and elevated highway nears completion

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the construction of 22 new foot overbridges along National Highway 66 (NH 66) between Ramanattukara and Kodungallur. The project includes 14 bridges in the Malappuram district and eight in Thrissur. NHAI has requested district collectors to inspect proposed locations and manage land acquisition requirements.

In a separate development regarding NH 66 widening, the Aroor-Thuravoor elevated highway project in Alappuzha has reached 95% completion. The Rs 2,200-crore corridor, managed by Ashok Buildcon, is the longest single-pillar elevated highway in India. The project is expected to be handed over to NHAI by December, with the total length of the six-lane highway reaching 13.24 km following a recent extension.
