NHAI employees disciplined after video shows dead dogs being dragged on highway

Three employees of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have faced disciplinary action following a viral video showing the inhumane treatment of dead dogs in Kaptaiganj, Basti district, Uttar Pradesh.

The video captured an NHAI patrolling team dragging two dead dogs along the highway using ropes instead of removing them in a respectful manner. While the removal of animal carcasses is necessary for traffic safety, the method used drew widespread public outrage regarding the lack of sensitivity toward the animals.

Praveen Garg, General Manager of the highway's civil wing, confirmed the disciplinary measures. The driver of the patrol van has been suspended, while a co-driver and one other employee have been dismissed from their positions.
