The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) increased toll charges at more than 50 toll plazas in Punjab and Haryana, with the new rates taking effect on July 15, 2026. The hike applies to eight key plazas on busy corridors linking Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Amritsar, Bathinda, Tarn Taran, Faridkot and Abohar. For most private vehicles the fee rises by Rs 5‑10 per trip, while buses and trucks face slightly higher increases.

The revision follows the National Highways Fee Rules and reflects inflation and changes in the wholesale price index. NHAI says the adjustments keep user fees aligned with prevailing economic conditions. Although the increase is modest for a single journey, frequent commuters, fleet operators and logistics firms are expected to feel a cumulative cost impact over time.
