NHAI to launch 54 highway projects worth Rs 1.8 lakh crore in FY27

India's National Highways Authority (NHAI) announced plans to bid out 54 highway and expressway projects covering 2,442 km with a total capital cost of Rs 1.80 lakh crore for the 2027 financial year. The projects, spread across Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, will be awarded under three models: 26 on an engineering‑procurement‑construction (EPC) basis, 21 under the hybrid annuity model (HAM) and seven via build‑operate‑transfer (BOT). In parallel, NHAI issued multiple tenders for construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of specific highway sections in Rajasthan, Odisha, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh, with tender values ranging from Rs 1.91 crore to Rs 1,979 crore and due dates in August 2026. These initiatives form a major component of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' effort to expand and upgrade the national road network.
