Vietnam film project to depict Olympic shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh

The upcoming film ‘The Last Bullet’ (Viên đạn cuối cùng), directed by Dinh Tuan Vu, will dramatize the journey of Olympic shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh. The film is inspired by Vinh’s historic performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he won Vietnam’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol, along with a silver medal in the 50m pistol event.

Actor Nhan Phuc Vinh has been cast in the lead role. Director Dinh Tuan Vu noted that selecting the actor was a challenge, ultimately choosing Nhan Phuc Vinh due to his personality and passion for sports. The production involved direct consultation with Hoang Xuan Vinh to ensure authenticity regarding his career and life.

Beyond the competition, the film aims to explore the psychological pressures, personal sacrifices, and relationships behind the glory. This includes family dynamics, teammate bonds, and the cultural and linguistic challenges faced while working with South Korean coach Park Chung Gun. The film is scheduled for release during the New Year period in 2027.
