NHK announces new cast for Toyotomi Kyodai! Yamato Koriyama arc

NHK has announced new cast members for the upcoming “Yamato Koriyama” arc of its Taiga drama “Toyotomi Kyodai!”, which will air in episodes 37 and 38 on September 27 and October 4.

New additions include Kentaro Ito, who will portray Ishikawa Seibei, a village headman; Shotaro Mamiya, playing the master of a brush workshop named Saizo; Tatsutarou Kataoka, appearing as the famous painter Kano Eitoku; and Ryotaro Sakaguchi, playing the monk Bankaku.

Kataoka, who also played a painter in last year’s Taiga drama, expressed a sense of “mysterious connection” to playing the historical artist Kano Eitoku. Kentaro Ito noted that he participated in the general audition specifically to work alongside lead actor Taiga Nakano.
