NHK drama Blossom follows the life of writer Tamu

The NHK morning drama series ‘Blossom’ is currently airing its fifth week, titled ‘Madness in Tokyo’. The story is inspired by the life of the writer Un Chiyo, depicting the journey of the protagonist, Tamu (played by Shizuka Ishibashi), as she navigates the turbulent eras of the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods.

In the upcoming 21st episode, Tamu and Tamotsu (played by Daichi Kaneko) continue their life in Hongo, Tokyo, where they have deceived their boarding house landlady by pretending to be siblings. While Tamotsu attends university and Tamu manages the household, Tamu encounters influential writers Akiyama Kakunosuke (played by Kengo Kora) and Koyama Ushimaru (played by Issey Ogata) at a local bookstore, providing her with significant inspiration for her own literary path.

However, tension arises as Maki Miyoshi (played by Yuko Nakamura), the landlady’s daughter, begins to suspect that Tamu and Tamotsu are not actually siblings.
