NHK drama “Kaze, Kaoru” highlights nursing journey in latest episodes

Episodes 59, 60 and 61 of NHK’s morning drama “Kaze, Kaoru” aired between June 18 and June 22, following the story of protagonists Rin (Mieami) and Naomi (Uesaka). In episode 59, senior character Suematsu asks the two trainees “What is nursing?” – a scene that generated online discussion, with some viewers likening the silence to a moment from the manga “Hunter×Hunter”.

Episode 61 shows Rin, Naomi and their fellow trainees beginning work as nurses at Imperial University Hospital, interacting with other characters such as Tsuyoshi and the mysterious newcomer Tsuya. The episodes continue the series’ focus on the challenges and moral questions faced by the characters as they enter the nursing profession.
