NHK drama “Toyotomi Brothers” actors tour Tokugawa Ieyasu sites and discuss new roles

Actors from NHK’s historical series “Toyotomi Brothers” visited locations in Aichi Prefecture associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu, including the birthplace castle in Okazaki, the family shrine at Daiju-ji and the Matsudaira hometown in Toyota. The cast—Kohei Matsushita (Ieyasu), Takashi Sakata (Ishikawa Sanehiro) and Daiko Natsumi (Honda Tadakatsu)—held live talks at the Toyota City Cultural Hall and the Okazaki City Welfare Hall, sharing insights on portraying historical figures and reflecting on the sites’ significance.

Separately, actor Yūki Kura, who plays the strategist Kuroda Kanbei, said he initially felt nervous about the part and aimed for a portrayal that is “more aggressive” than the traditional calm image. He described on‑set challenges, support from co‑star Taiga Nakano, and the character’s evolving relationship with fellow strategist Takeda Hanzō, highlighting differences in personality and tactics within the drama’s narrative.
