NHK drama “Toyotomi Brothers” unveils second‑half cast visuals ahead of new episodes

NHK’s historical drama “Toyotomi Brothers!” entered its second half, titled the “Tenka Ichitō” (天下一統編), with the first episode of the new arc scheduled to air on August 9. Ahead of the broadcast, the network released costume photographs of key figures on August 6, sparking excitement on social media.

The visuals feature Yamada Ryosuke as Toyotomi Hideji, the tragic heir‑apparent, and Yoshitaka Hidetaka as Sen no Rikyū, the tea‑master who supported the Toyotomi regime. Other highlighted characters include Tokugawa Ieyasu, portrayed by Matsushita Kōhei, and several newly introduced samurai and court ladies who will influence the brothers’ fate. The drama follows Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s brother Hideyuki, who moves from a supporting role to the “right arm” of unifying the country, taking on diplomatic and military responsibilities.

Fans noted the striking costumes and expressed anticipation for the upcoming “Kiyosu meeting” episode, where Hideyoshi and Hideyuki convene to decide the Oda succession. The series continues to air weekly on NHK General and NHK BS, with streaming options available.
