NHK morning drama Blossom premieres starring Shizuka Ishibashi
NHK has launched its 115th continuous morning drama series, ‘Blossom’, starring Shizuka Ishibashi. The story is inspired by the life of author Uno Chiyo, following the protagonist Tama Hayano as she navigates the turbulent eras of Meiji, Taisho, and Showa to become a successful novelist.
Recent developments in the series include the formation of a literary circle by Tama and her classmates, which gains unexpected attention. Meanwhile, the character Seiji, played by Atsuro Watabe, faces financial pressure from his family head.
Cast members including Ryoko Kuninaka and Ran Murakami recently participated in a public viewing event in Yamaguchi City to discuss their roles. NHK On Demand has also announced a limited-time free streaming period for the first week of the series to encourage viewership.
