NHK reveals key visual for 2027 Taiga drama ‘Gyakuzoku no Bakushin’

NHK has released the key visual for its 2027 Taiga drama, ‘Gyakuzoku no Bakushin’ (The Traitorous Shogunate Official), starring Tori Matsuzaka. The visual features a low-angle shot of Matsuzaka as the protagonist, Oguri Tadamasa, capturing the tension and energy of the character.

The production team announced that composer Takashi Omama will handle the music, with the theme song performed by the NHK Symphony Orchestra. The drama, written by Naoko Adachi, focuses on the life of Oguri Tadamasa, a figure who contributed to Japan's modernization but was ultimately executed by the Meiji government.

At a promotional event in Takasaki, actress Mone Kamishiraishi, who plays Oguri's wife Michi, shared that her father, a former teacher, was a great admirer of the historical figure. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting on January 10, 2027, with an extended first episode.
