NHK Utacon to feature 1980s music hits special
The NHK music program ‘Utacon’ will air a special episode on September 1st dedicated to the greatest hits of the 1980s. The broadcast features a diverse lineup of performers covering classic tracks and performing recent hits.
Yo Oizumi returns to the program after two years, performing ‘Moshimo Piano ga Hiketa Nara’ in honor of the late Toshiyuki Nishida, alongside ‘Dakishimete TONIGHT’. King & Prince will cover Seiko Matsuda’s ‘SWEET MEMORIES’ and perform their new song ‘So Honey’. T. M. Revolution is set to perform ‘HOT LIMIT’ in his iconic costume.
Other notable performances include a special medley of city pop classics by EPO, ‘High School Lullaby’ by Imokin Trio, and ‘Sabishii Nettaigyo’ by Juice=Juice members Kisaki Ebata and Mifu Kawashima. The episode also includes covers by May J., Nishikawa Takanori, and others, celebrating the enduring legacy of 1980s music.
