NHL Development Camps Launch, Featuring Penguins, Flyers and Predators

The Pittsburgh Penguins opened their 2026 development camp at the UPMC Lemieux Complex, with most of the recent draft class in attendance. Identical twins Liam and Markus Ruck were split into separate practice groups for the first time, and Markus said, “We don’t tell each other, ‘Hey, you score. Hey, you pass.’ It’s just kind of the way it unfolds.”

Across the league, the Philadelphia Flyers hosted their camp in Voorhees, where first‑round pick Maksim Sokolovskii impressed scouts with his mobility. After putting on the Flyers logo, Sokolovskii said he felt “amazing.” Porter Martone, another rookie, told the media, “There’s still a team to make and a job to earn.”

The Nashville Predators also began camp, showcasing first‑rounders Wyatt Cullen and Tommy Bleyl, who praised each other’s skills in on‑ice interviews. These camps give prospects their first look at professional training environments and allow teams to assess draft picks and prospects ahead of the upcoming season.
