NHL enforces jersey tuck rule on Philadelphia Flyers' Trevor Zegras

Philadelphia Flyers center Trevor Zegras has become the first player penalized under a renewed NHL crackdown on equipment regulations. During a preseason game against the Boston Bruins, Zegras was assessed a two-minute minor penalty for delay of game due to his jersey being tucked into his pants.

The NHL has informed teams that it will strictly enforce rules regarding how equipment, including jerseys, neck guards, visors, and helmets, is worn. Under current regulations, jerseys must be untucked at the start of a player’s shift. Officials are instructed to issue a warning for the first violation, with a minor penalty following a second occurrence.

Zegras noted that he typically plays with his jersey tucked and had already been warned during the game before the penalty was assessed. According to league records, the last recorded penalties for tucked jerseys occurred in 2013.
