NHL Free Agents Logan Stanley and Patrik Laine Remain Unsigned

Defenseman Logan Stanley, 28, has not signed a contract despite a breakout season in which he posted nine goals, 17 assists and 26 points in 76 games split between the Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres. The 6‑foot‑7, 231‑lb blueliner is being linked to the Calgary Flames, which have cap space and could offer a short‑term deal, a possible return to the Jets, or a low‑cost addition for the Florida Panthers, though the Panthers have already committed significant money to their core.

Forward Patrik Laine also remains a free agent. The New York Islanders held discussions early in free agency but indicated they would only consider a professional try‑out, citing a logjam at forward. The Los Angeles Kings were previously linked to Laine, but interest has not been confirmed for the offseason. Laine is healthy, scored 20 goals last season with 15 on the power play (fifth in the league), but has seen limited game time recently, playing only five games in the 2025‑26 season.
