NHL implements new CBA as Philadelphia arena renderings are updated

The National Hockey League (NHL) will implement a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) starting September 15. Key changes include an 84-game regular season schedule and a rising salary cap. The preseason and training camp durations have been reduced; training camp will now last 13 days, and the preseason will consist of four games. Additionally, players with over 100 NHL games are limited to two preseason appearances, and formal attire requirements for players entering venues have been removed.

In Philadelphia, developers updated renderings for a new $1.5 billion arena planned for the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. The facility, intended to house the Philadelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia 76ers, and a future WNBA team, was revised after initial graphics failed to depict women in scenes representing fans attending Flyers games. The venue is expected to open in 2030.
