NHL Network center rankings spark debate over Matthews and Suzuki

The NHL Network's recent ranking of the top 20 centers in the league has sparked significant debate following the decision to place Auston Matthews ahead of Nick Suzuki. While Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, and Macklin Celebrini occupy the top three spots, Matthews was ranked eighth, ahead of Suzuki, who placed ninth.

Sports host Sid Seixeiro criticized the ranking, calling it “asinine.” Seixeiro argued that Suzuki’s recent performance, which included a 106-point season and a Selke Trophy win, outweighs Matthews’ recent output, which was hampered by injuries. Seixeiro noted that Suzuki is one of only three centers to achieve both 100 points and a Selke Trophy in a single season, joining Fedorov and Doug Gilmour.
