NHL prospect rankings spark debate over Reinbacher and Wyttenbach

Recent NHL prospect rankings released by The Athletic columnist Corey Pronman have sparked debate regarding the evaluation of young players. Pronman’s re-ranking of the 2023 draft class places Connor Bedard at the top, followed by Leo Carlsson, Adam Fantilli, and Will Smith.

Among the notable inclusions is Montreal Canadiens defenseman David Reinbacher, who is ranked 14th. This placement has drawn attention as Reinbacher has only recently begun his NHL career. The rankings also include Zach Benson, whose position relative to other prospects has become a point of contention among analysts.

Additionally, discussions have emerged regarding Calgary Flames fifth-round pick Ethan Wyttenbach. Critics argue that Wyttenbach, who showed significant production in the USHL with 51 points in 44 games, remains underrated in current prospect evaluations despite his scoring pedigree.
