NHL roster transactions waivers training camp player trades

Several NHL teams are making roster adjustments as training camps progress toward the 2026-27 season.

The New York Rangers placed four players on waivers on Tuesday, September 22: Urho Vaakanainen, Justin Dowling, Juuso Parssinen, and Denni Cholowski. Vaakanainen is an eight-year NHL veteran who has played 80 games for the Rangers over the last two seasons.

In a separate move, the Chicago Blackhawks placed veteran skater Derrick Pouliot on waivers on Monday, September 21. Pouliot, a 32-year-old Stanley Cup champion, previously played for the Rangers before being traded to Chicago. If he clears waivers, he is expected to report to the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
