Nhlangano Half Marathon attracts over 1,300 runners
More than 1,300 runners participated in the inaugural Nhlangano Half Marathon in Eswatini on August 22, 2026. The event featured 21km, 10km, and 5km categories, attracting both local and international athletes.
In the 21km main race, Ntokozo Nkonyane of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) won the men’s title with a time of 1:12, marking his third consecutive half-marathon victory. Sifiso Dlamini and Melusi Khumalo followed to complete a UEDF podium sweep.
Thobile Ngwenyama of the Correctional Services Athletics Club won the women’s 21km race, clocking approximately 1:34. She finished ahead of South Africa’s Eunice Nhlapho and UEDF’s Gugu Mthembu. The winners of the 21km races each received E5,000.
In the 10km category, Bongani Jele of TZD Sports Club won the men’s race, while Siphesihle Ngwenya of Correctional Services secured the women’s title. The event was officially flagged off by Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima.
