NHN Cloud secures 20MW AI data center capacity in Pohang

NHN Cloud has signed a lease commitment to secure 20MW of power and space at a new AI-dedicated data center being constructed in Pohang, South Korea. The facility is being developed by AI Factory Pohang PFV in the Gwangmyeong General Industrial Complex, with a total investment of 600 billion won and a target for commercial operation in the first half of 2028.

This move is part of NHN Cloud’s broader strategy to secure at least 30MW of AI data center capacity by the second half of 2027. The company plans to lease 20MW from external providers to rapidly expand its infrastructure and build another 10MW internally. This capacity is intended to support the growing demand for GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) and cloud services, which require significant power and cooling capabilities for AI model training and inference.

To support this commitment, parent company NHN has provided a debt guarantee of 110.1 billion won for NHN Cloud. This guarantee covers potential liabilities arising from the lease agreement and related financial borrowings. The lease term is set for 60 months starting from the commencement of data center operations.
