NHS and construction firms sign partnership for England’s Hospital 2.0 programme

Eleven new long‑term partnerships have been forged between NHS trusts and leading construction companies to deliver 11 new hospitals across England under the Hospital 2.0 Alliance. The agreements form part of the New Hospital Programme and aim to standardise design, building and operation of modern hospitals, improving quality, productivity, safety, sustainability and digital innovation.

Minister of State for Health Karin Smyth said the arrangements streamline procurement, allow faster delivery for patients, give industry certainty for planning and ensure taxpayers receive maximum value while supporting jobs. Partners include Willmott Dixon, Laing O'Rourke, Skanska, Vinci, Sir Robert McAlpine, Morgan Sindall, Bovis, Dragados and others, each linked to specific NHS Foundation Trusts.

The collaborative model retains local NHS responsibility for meeting community needs while sharing expertise and standards across multiple schemes, marking a major step forward for public‑infrastructure delivery in the UK.
