NHS app introduces prescription collection alerts

NHS England has launched a new feature for the NHS app that sends phone and smartwatch notifications to users when their prescriptions are ready for collection. The update is designed to reduce unnecessary phone calls to pharmacies and prevent patients from making premature trips to collect medication.

To utilize the service, users must enable push alerts within the app settings. The rollout will include nearly 2,500 pharmacies across England, including all Boots and Asda pharmacy locations. This development follows the introduction of a prescription tracking feature last year, which has already been used by approximately 2.9 million people.
