NHS summer vaccination drive protects hundreds of children in Essex
An NHS summer catch-up vaccination campaign in Chelmsford and Maldon has administered 442 vaccinations to children and young people. The drive includes pre-school boosters and Meningitis B vaccinations to protect individuals ahead of the new school and university year.
National data indicates that nearly one in five children starting primary school lack full protection against several serious diseases due to missed pre-school boosters. Missing routine vaccinations can leave children vulnerable to illnesses such as measles, mumps, rubella, meningitis, whooping cough, HPV, diphtheria, tetanus, and polio.
The East of England Community and School-Aged Immunisation Service (CSAIS) has utilized a mobile vaccination van to reach families, with a final opportunity for residents to visit the van on Chelmsford High Street on Wednesday, 26 August.
