Nhyiaeso Chief pledges support to ECG to curb utility corridor encroachment

Nana Osei Yaw Frimpong II, the Nhyiaesohene of Kumasi, has pledged the support of traditional authorities to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to combat encroachment on utility corridors. During a meeting with ECG Ashanti West Region management in Adum, the Chief committed to enforcing right-of-way laws and protecting lands designated for electricity infrastructure, such as poles and transformers.

The collaboration aims to address ongoing challenges faced by ECG and the Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo) regarding the occupation of earmarked utility lands. The Nhyiaesohene encouraged residents to report any unauthorized structures or activities near power lines to his office to ensure public safety and efficient service delivery.

Additionally, the Chief commended ECG for recent improvements in power stability and service delivery in several areas, including Ahodwo, Adum, Darkodwom, Danyame, Ridge, and the vicinity of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). He emphasized that stable electricity is vital for households, businesses, and the broader economy.
