Niš hosts Parade of Identity and Solidarity for marginalized groups
The citizens' association ‘Kolektiv Plus’ is organizing the Parade of Identity and Solidarity in Niš on September 26, 2026. The event aims to gather members of various marginalized communities from southern Serbia to celebrate diverse identities and advocate for their rights.
Participants include the Roma community, persons with disabilities, individuals with autism and developmental disorders, their parents, women, people from rural areas, and the LGBTIQ+ community. The parade will feature a symbolic walk from the Fortress bridge to the monument at King Milan Square, followed by public readings of demands addressed to the city and the state.
The event is part of the ‘Identity is a Public Matter: I Belong Here’ project, supported by the Human Rights Leaders Program implemented by Hartefakt with financial assistance from the European Union. This program, running from 2024 to 2026, focuses on social exclusion, violence, and the status of minority groups in Serbia to promote democratic political culture and human rights.
