Sarajevo mother and daughter die during vacation in Montenegro
A family tragedy has occurred on the Montenegrin coast in Dobri Vode, near Bar, where a mother and daughter from Sarajevo passed away during their vacation. The two women, Šejla Velija (45) and her daughter Džejna (22), died on August 28, with the daughter passing away approximately one hour before her mother.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate that both women suffered from cardiac arrest. While officials have characterized the deaths as natural, some social media reports have noted that the family had previously complained of headaches and nausea during their stay. The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Podgorica confirmed the deaths and has been in contact with the family.
The Velija family, known for operating a catering business in the Alipašino Polje neighborhood of Sarajevo, had previously suffered the loss of the husband two years ago. Two minor daughters remain in the family following this loss.
