Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant Outage Keeps Montenegro Grid Stable

The Pljevlja thermal power plant in Montenegro suffered a loss of external power supply after a fault in the high‑voltage transmission system, causing the plant to be offline since Sunday. Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) reported that, despite the outage, the national electricity system remains stable and continues to supply all customers. Rapid and coordinated actions by plant staff ensured safety systems functioned correctly, preventing larger consequences. EPCG plans to cool the plant block fully and will conduct technical analyses before deciding on a restart. The utility also highlighted its ongoing commitment to reliable power delivery amid regional challenges such as reduced nuclear generation and unfavorable hydrological conditions.
