NIA attaches Srinagar property linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba conspiracy

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached a residential property in the Danihama village of Hazratbal, Srinagar, belonging to Ghulam Mohammad Mir, also known as ‘Mama Gas’. The action was taken under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, following approval from the NIA Director General.

The property is allegedly linked to a cross-border militant conspiracy involving the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Investigations suggest the residence was used to provide shelter to Pakistani militants and facilitate logistical support. During a raid on the premises on April 6, 2026, authorities reportedly discovered two suspected Pakistani LeT militants, identified as Abu Huraira and Khubaib.

The agency also seized digital devices, explosive-like substances, and other incriminating materials during the search. The NIA is investigating a network of local overground workers (OGWs) believed to be coordinating with Pakistan-based LeT handlers to assist in infiltration and plan attacks against security forces, government establishments, and civilians.
