NIA chargesheets six in Punjab railway track blast case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against six individuals in connection with an explosion that occurred on April 27, 2026, on the railway line between Shambhu and Rajpura stations in Punjab. The blast took place on the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL) line and resulted in the death of Jagroop Singh, a suspected Khalistani operative, while he was allegedly assembling explosives.

The chargesheet was submitted to the NIA Special Court in Mohali against Gurjinder Singh (alias Beant Baba), Satnam Singh, Pardeep Singh (alias Khalsa), Kulvinder Singh (alias Bagga), Gurpreet Singh (alias Gopi), and Manjeet Singh. The accused face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act, the Explosive Substances Act, the Railways Act, the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Investigators allege the group was part of a conspiracy to further the activities of the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), a proscribed terrorist organization. The NIA stated the conspiracy was intended to disrupt communal harmony and destabilize law and order in Punjab. The investigation linked the group to Pakistan-based Ranjeet Singh (alias Neeta), a designated individual terrorist affiliated with the KZF.
